The Terms

 

Tuscan divers act as agents for ATOL bonded tour operators and airlines only.  *

 

Flight Bookings

 

As it is simple these days to book flights using travel agents, airline websites and low cost airlines, we are happy to provide the land based and diving portion only if preferred. If you would like us to book flights, we will do so using our ATOL registered agents* that we have been dealing with for many years. We will ask for the deposit required by the agent, or if last minute or discount domestic, advance payment in full, pay for the tickets and dispatch them to you immediately. You then have the peace of mind that the tickets are fully protected by ATOL bond (details on request).

 

Fuel surcharges can be levied by carriers after booking. This beyond our control and we have to pass this on to you, the client.

 

Certification

 

Some of the diving trips we run involve deep diving, Nitrox, Trimix and extended decompression times. We will advise you of minimum dive qualification and experience required for safety and enjoyment of these dives.

 

Tickets

 

Flights will be booked and paid for in full at time of booking.

Tickets are despatched immediately and should be with you in 24 hours (postal service permitting). If you do not receive your tickets within  7 days - please contact us on 0131 313 5100 or 07801 258943 or by email to mail@tuscandivers.com

 

Receipts

 

For your protection and in accordance with the Civil Aviation (Air Travel Organiser' Licensing) Regulations 1995 Tuscan Divers act as an Agent for ATOL Protected Tour Operators* and flight carriers at all times. After booking your holiday with us you will be sent a receipt. The ATOL part of the receipt details items provided by the Tour Operator and is covered by the Tour Operator's ATOL licence from the CAA. The non ATOL receipt covers goods and services provided by Tuscan Divers.

 

24 Hour Clock

 

All the times shown are based on the 24 hour clock and are local. Times 00.01 to 12.00 are AM (morning). Times 12.01 to 24.00 are PM (afternoon).

 

Passports

 

British Citizens require a valid full ten year British passport for travel outside the British Isles. Certain destinations may require at least six month's validity remaining on the passport on the date of return. Non British Citizens including other EU nationals should contact the embassy, high commission or consulate of your destination for up-to-date advice on passport requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party have valid passports the travel being undertaken.

 

Visas

 

Visas may be required for British Citizens for entry to non EU countries. Visas may also be required for longer stays over three months in certain EU countries. Immigration, visa and entry restrictions may apply both in the EU and elsewhere for other nationalities, including other EU nationals, and British Citizens who have conditions on their entry to the UK. You should contact the embassy, high commission or consulate of the destination for up-to-date advice on immigration and visa requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party have valid visas for the travel being undertaken.

 

Health

 

For medical advice regarding your holiday destination or journey, including vaccinations, you should contact your general practitioner. The Department of Health leaflet 'Health Advice for Travellers' is available from the Health Literature Line on freephone 0800 555777.

 

Insurance

 

It is the policy of Tuscan Divers only to provide travel if:

 

All the party are covered by an insurance policy which provides appropriate  levels of cover, particularly with flights and tours that have cancellation or change of date penalties. In such cases, insurance should be taken out when the final flight or tour payment is made. For diving members of the party, specific care should be taken to ensure cover is in place for the relevant depth planned, recompression costs and flights to hyperbaric treatment / repatriation.

We recommend DAN or www.dive-master.net. For Bikini, DAN Preferred or Master Plan is required to cover cost of evacuation and treatment if required.

American Express have recently changed their travel insurance and removed the 30 metre limit. We are happy to recommend them as well.

 

It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party have appropriate insurance cover for the travel being undertaken.

 

Baggage

 

In the past, airlines were quite flexible regarding excess baggage but have recently become stricter. Most airlines now have a limit of 23kg of checked baggage plus one bag of sports equipment max 23kg (sometimes not weight limited). The sports item can be a dive bag or a set of golf clubs. They sometimes insist that the dive bag must be separate and so you need two bags to meet their baggage allowance rules. As these rules seem sometimes to be made up on the spot by check in staff, it is impossible to advise on anything other than the published guidelines on each airline’s website.

 

For Bikini, Marshall Islands Airlines have a weight limit of 40lbs and charge $1.50 a lb for any excess (one way). This is very random. 99% of the time they turn a blind eye to excess but on other occasions they strictly apply the rules to divers going to Bikini.

They only take cash or travellers cheques.

 

Similarly, ground staff and security staff apply completely contradictory rules on what should be in hold or hand baggage, torches, computers, regulators etc sometimes have to be shuffled around to meet their requirements.

 

Up to 2006, we had no problems reported by any clients regarding excess baggage but this has recently become an issue.

 

UPDATE – as of August 2006 and till further notice – due to security issues, hand baggage restrictions are in force.  These change regularly, contact us for current allowance.

 

 

Payment

 

All outstanding balances for your holiday are due to be paid to us at least twelve weeks before date of departure. You can pay your balance by sending cheques, payable to Tuscan Divers to 22B Coates Gardens, Edinburgh EH12 5LE. It would help us if you could write your name and address on the back of any cheques. Alternatively you can call us on 0131 313 5100 to arrange for payment by credit/debit card, we have to charge a 4% handling fee for credit/debit card transactions. Deposit requirements will be advised at time of booking. If further interim payments are required, this will be advised when booking is confirmed. This could be due to late booking or because interim payments are demanded by resort.

 

Jurisdiction

 

All holidays and flights are for departure from within the UK. We are sorry but we cannot provide tickets for departure from outside the UK.

 

This site is not intended for use in jurisdictions outside the UK. Use of this site is subject to the laws of Scotland. Prices displayed are prices from and are subject to availability. Tuscan Divers regularly checks the price of all the holidays and flights it advertises to ensure that they are available at the prices shown. However it cannot guarantee the availability of a holiday or flight at an advertised price. The prices shown are based on certain occupancy levels for the accommodation.

 

Changes & Cancellation

 

Note – Airline refunds can take up to 12 weeks

Please be advised that the majority of best price tickets for domestic and European flights are NON-CHANGEABLE. As we strive to find the cheapest available fares for all our customers, unless specifically requested, we will purchase “no change / no refund” basis tickets. It is your responsibility to check dates and times on your itinerary before you pay in full. If you need to make a change after final payment, the airline will consider it a cancellation and the cancellation fee can be up to 100% of the ticket value. (most domestic and European flights are completely non-refundable) All airlines charge cancellation fees. Please also note that sometimes flight times / airfare and tour prices can be changed by operators without notice. We will do our best to advise of such changes and increases.

 

 

ATOL

 

All our flights are paid for in full at time of booking. We purchase all flights from ATOL, IATA, ABTA members and bond holders. Tickets are dispatched to you within 24 hours of receipt by registered post. A copy of the ATOL receipt is included with the tickets. *

 

SECURITY STATEMENT

 

We have taken all reasonable steps to have in place appropriate security measures to protect your information.

 

 

ACCURACY

 

Tuscan Divers does not warrant that the information accessible via this web site is accurate. The information that we display is derived from a number of sources including the brochures of operators whose holiday we sell as agents. Whilst tour operators take great care to try to ensure brochure accuracy, services and facilities may change or be withdrawn and brochure information may change from one edition to the next.
